Jon Stewart is known for being a television host and an outstanding political satirist. Even though Chuck Todd is the one presenting Meet The Press on NBC, it was recently revealed that the network intended Stewart to be the one who would host the show.
Todd was off to a pretty strong start in the ratings, thanks to his interview with the President of the United States, Barack Obama. However, Meet The Press has now fallen to the third place, right behind ABC’s This Week and CBS’s Face the Nation. According to sources in the television industry, NBC was willing to do anything to have Jon Stewart presenting the show. He was definitely worth it, as his interviews would have been killer ones indeed.
Despite Jon Stewart not being your casual journalist for the position, he could have brought a twist and made the audiences tune in for his own version of the show, especially the younger ones. However, the host ended up declining the offer. Instead, he extended his contract with Comedy Central and, of course, remained the host of The Daily Show.
If anything, it would have been both interesting and exciting to see Stewart presenting Meet The Press, wouldn’t it?
