Speculation about RDJ’s return for the superhero collective sequel has been in question since the star’s contract with Marvel Studios ran out after Iron Man 3. In the latest Iron Man movie, we saw what looked very much like the last solo outing for RDJ as Iron Man, as we come to a perfect conclusion of Tony Stark’s journey, from playboy to devoted boyfriend in the space of not one but three blockbusters! (Even if Iron Man 2 was a bit of a let-down). For those impatient folks who didn’t stay till the end; they missed the ‘Tony Stark will return’ at the end of the film, meaning that in some shape or form, we’re not saying goodbye to our favourite superhero

just

yet.

Avengers 2 goes into production early next year, hence why rumours about casting are already floating around the net. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Joss Whedon was very bold with his comments saying ‘I have no intention of making Avengers 2 without him’ – something we here at PW are

very

happy about. He went on to say ‘He is Iron Man, he is Iron Man in the way Sean Connery was James Bond…everybody knows he embodied that role in a way no one else can’.

So as far as we know, RDJ is going

nowhere

. Stay with PW for all things ‘Avengers’ related!

The Avengers 2 will arrive in cinemas 2015.
