The new season of American Idol is supposed to be starting production on September 3rd, however, show bosses are considering delaying the start due to an incomplete panel of judges.

This latest drama follows the news that producer Dr. Luke would not be joining the Fox show, due to a conflict of interest with Sony Records.  The producer, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, was so keen to join the show he apparently offered Sony Records half of his fee, however, the studio declined this offer.  Scooter Braun, who is Justin Bieber’s manager, has also ruled himself out of the running for a judge’s seat.  Singer Harry Connick Jr. is the latest name to be linked to join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the panel. The producers, however, would apparently rather have a behind the scenes name instead of another singer.

Let’s hope they are able to make a decision soon.

American Idol will air on Fox early in 2014.
