Beating the likes of peers Lady GaGa and Katy Perry, Justin Bieber has managed to be the first person to reach 40 million followers on social networking site, Twitter.

Upon hearing the news, Bieber tweeted ‘#40MillionBeliebers – thank u. I love u. #grateful’ His next tweet was ‘#40MillionStrong’ which then prompted the hash-tag to trend worldwide. The star then posted this photo:

There was a report last month that said half of Justin Bieber’s followers were fake accounts, meaning they were following less than 50 people on Twitter and/or had never actually tweeted themselves. There’s nothing to say that, if true JB has

any

involvement and whether or not this report is 100% accurate.

Lady GaGa is currently in second place with 37.9 million followers, Katy Perry hot on her trail in third with 37.4m and POTUS, Barrack Obama in fourth place with 32.2m.

We here at PopWrapped say Congrats, Justin!
