Justin Bieber’s live-in friend, rapper Lil Za, was arrested Tuesday at the teen idol’s California mansion for alleged drug possession.

Before Lil Za, also known as Xavier Smith, could pay the $20,000 bail he damaged a phone in his holding cell –delaying his release from the police station. Vandalism was added to Smith’s list of crimes and his bail was adjusted to $70,000.

TMZ reported that police found the narcotics “in plain sight” at Bieber’s Calabasas home. Police found Xanax and molly, a form of ecstasy, while searching the house under a warrant for vandalism.

Police obtained a warrant to search the pop star’s home due to allegations that Bieber had recently egged a neighbor’s home –causing $20,000 worth of damage.

Lieutenant Dave Thompson explained that although the juvenile act seems harmless, it is still a felony.  “There is a victim in this case who has extensive damage done to their home. And that’s a serious incident,” said Thompson.

Although there is currently an insubstantial amount of evidence to charge Bieber with vandalism, his involvement with Smith could lead to future run-ins with the law. The rapper is viewed as a “bad influence” on Bieber and has been residing at his house for the last few months.

According to officials, 19-year-old Bieber was not affiliated with Smith’s drugs.
