Talk about bad timing and bad judgement. Justin Timberlake has found himself in some hot water after allegedly tweeting a happy birthday wish to Madonna that read:
“A happiest of Bdays to my mother chucking ninja, @Madonna!! Hope you have a great one, M!”
The choice of words did not sit well with many of his followers who view the phrase as an alternative to saying “mother f—ing n—a.” Many users decided to voice their opinions by responding with tweets like:
I knew Justin Timberlake was getting too close for comfort with black culture but now he is saying ninja. #nosir

Justin Timberlake chose *this* week to call Madonna “my ninja”? I just can’t.

Timberlake is not the first star to use ‘ninja’ as a substitute. In 2012, Katy Perry covered Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “N—-s in Paris” for a Radio 1 performance and swapped the real word for the alternative.
Timberlake has since deleted the offending tweet and has retweeted a message from Matt Morris about the events in Ferguson: “The world is watching #Ferguson. [And we pray.]”
