Kanye, Lindsay, Selena & More Help 30 Seconds To Mars Celebrate The “City Of Angels” In New Music Video

30 Seconds to Mars are known for taking their fans on some pretty epic adventures with their music videos. The 11 minute short film, “From Yesterday” for example was filmed in the People’s Republic of China using 400 Chinese soldiers and 20 horses and was the first ever American music video to be filmed in the country. “A Beautiful Lie” was filmed entirely on top of icebergs in Greenland and the 13 minute long “Hurricane” has caused its share of controversy for its violent and sexual nature.

In their latest offering “City of Angels” we are once again treated to one of Bartholomew Cubbins’ (the pseudonym of Jared Leto, but shhh don’t tell anyone) short films. Coming in at just over 11 minutes the video hosts a who’s who of famous faces who all share their feelings about the city.

Kanye West, James Franco, Olivia Wilde, Ashley Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, Selena Gomez and others speak candidly about how the city of Los Angeles shaped their lives.

Kanye shares his love with the success he’s found, shouting “Fame is fucking awesome”, where as Olsen admits “Fame is an illusion”. Gomez confesses “I’m a Disney kid; people try to tell me what to do every single day. People think I’m a goodie-goodie [and] boring, but then say I’m a fame whore, that I use people.”

Their stories are entwined with shots of the band performing, silhouetted and perched high above the city below, as well as street performers , LA residents, and celebrity impersonators who recall their own struggles and journeys to the Promised Land.

In a statement about the film, Jared Leto said “I made this short film so I could share my thoughts on this incredibly special place and talk to others about theirs. It’s not so much about this particular city but more about the people who inhabit it. This is for the dreamers who know that sometimes the impossible is indeed possible.”

City of Angels is the second single off 30 Seconds to Mars’ fourth studio album Love, Lust, Faith + Dreams.
