In the past week, the Supreme Court made a historic ruling declaring same-sex marriages legal in all 50 states, so it’s appropriate that the trailer for a film where such a marriage is the central focus has just arrived.
Jenny’s Wedding, starring rom-com favourite Katherine Heigl and Gilmore Girls alum Alexis Bledel, will be released in theaters on July 31st and then available via Video On Demand on August 1st.
The story follows Jenny (Heigl) as she struggles to admit her sexuality to her rather strict, conventional parents, despite getting engaged to her girlfriend Kitty (Bledel).
The trailer makes a strong reference to the idea of changing attitudes – certainly in the case of Jenny’s parents: if they don’t, they lose their daughter.
With the likes of Tom Wilkinson also starring, the film is sure to be heart-warming and tear-jerking. Ultimately, it will be a big-screen reminder of the struggles so many people face in their lives and how family and love can change everything.
