Katherine Heigl has landed the lead role in Mary Agnes Donoghue’s new Indie film Jenny’s Wedding, Variety reports.
The actress is best known as Dr. Izzie Stevens in Grey’s Anatomy but has previously starred in a variety of other comedies, such as Knocked Up, Life as We Know It and The Ugly Truth.
Heigl is cast as the title character, Jenny, whose impulsive decision to marry consequently completely changes the dynamic of her traditional family.
Donoghue, who bought us Beaches, is directing this film from her own script, and it is being produced by Michelle Manning.

Tom Wilkinson, who portrayed Carmine Falcone in Batman Begins, and Linda Edmond, starred in Julie & Julia, will be playing Heigl’s on-screen parents.
Moreover, Meryl Streep’s daughter, Grace Gummer, who has previously starred in TV Series Zero Hour, will also be incorporated into the plot, however it isn’t known what her role is and how much screen time her character will get.
The movie is set to start filming on 28th October, but if you can’t wait this long to see Heigl, her next film is North of Hell alongside Patrick Wilson.
