Kathy Bates To Star In New Stoner Comedy For Netflix

Emmy Nominee Kathy Bates is poised to star in Netflix’s new stoner comedy Disjointed, created by CBS comedy lord Chuck Lorre.

Recent Emmy nominee and critical darling Kathy Bates is set to star in a new Netflix comedy. According to TVLine the sitcom, titled Disjointed, is created by CBS comedy leader Chuck Lorre (creator of The Big Bang Theory and Two And A Half Men) and David Javerbaum (The Daily Show ).

Bates is set to star as a long time advocate for the legalization of marijuana, who finally gets to live out her lifelong dream of running a dispensary in the Los Angeles area. Along for the ride with Bates’ character will be her son, three workers (also known as budtenders) and a security guard, all of whom will more or less be under the influence of their product at all times.

Disjointed was greenlit for a straight to series order of 20 half-hour installments. This marks a bigger push by Netflix to enter the comedy arena, especially with a name such as Lorre behind the project.

It is unclear whether Disjointed will impact Bates’ possible return to American Horror Story‘s upcoming sixth season, but since she was just newly nominated for an Emmy because of it, it would be safe to say that Bates plans on being in two places at once: cable TV and streaming.
