We recently covered Katy’s final performance at the iTunes Music Festival where she debuted her new song, “By the Grace of God.”
In a recent interview with Billboard, Katy reveals that song was written during a dark time when she was dealing with her divorce from Russell Brand and the lyric “lying on the floor of a bathroom, fighting suicidal thoughts,” is very indicative of her situation at the time.
“That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, ‘Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?’” Perry told the mag. “All the songs are real-life moments. I can only write autobiographically. I put all the evidence in the music. I tell my fans if they want to know the real truth about stuff, just listen to the songs.”
With her brand new album dropping in just a few weeks, we are truly starting to get an idea of the genuine feel this album will have. Katy’s honesty, up-front approach, and transparent way of communicating through music is sure to touch her fans around the world, and earn her even more acclaim for Prism.
