Friends don’t let friends embarrass themselves in public. Or if it can’t be stopped, they make sure to let them know about it afterwards!
Fashionista Kelly Osbourne tried to stay professional as she spoke about her friend Miley’s questionable VMA choices on her show Fashion Police. “We’re not talking about her performance,” she firmly stated. “We’re talking about what she’s wearing. It’s not that original.” She said, bringing up Lady Gaga who had previously worn a similar garment to the Grammys. “But I do appreciate it’s reminiscent of the ‘Blurred Lines’ music video.”
However, like every true friend, she did have a bit of negativity against the performance. “Miley’s my friend and I love her, and I have her back no matter what.” Osbourne gushed. “But as her friend I’m going to tell her, ‘Put your f**king tongue in your mouth. I love you but just put your tongue in your mouth.”
Cyrus’ actions have also been criticized by Chris Kirkpatrick, Robin Thicke’s mom, Brooke Shields, and the Parents Television council.
But just as there are two sides to every coin, she has received support for her performance from fellow celebs like Selena Gomez, Adam Lambert, and Justin Timberlake, the latter even taking time to point out the show’s lengthy history with controversial performances (Madonna/Britney kiss anyone?). “I just think it’s the VMAs,” he said. “It’s not like she did it at the Grammys.”
Don’t give her ideas, Justin. Do not give her ideas.
