Kesha Rouses Coachella Crowd With Surprise Weekend Performance

Embattled singer Kesha took the stage at Coachella during the Zedd show on Saturday with an electrifying performance of ‘True Colors’.

In her second public performance since her court battles with Dr. Luke (nee Lukasz Gottwald) began in 2014, singer Kesha joined EDM act Zedd on stage to sing “True Colors,” electrifying the Indio, California crowd.

Wearing a short, flowing black dress and black wide-brimmed hat, Kesha sang “I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes…(It’s) time to light the flame, right before it rains. I’m not afraid.” She also tweaked the lyrics “We’ve escaped our capture, yet we have our masters” to “I have no master.”  The audience responded with cheers as she concluded her performance with a tip of her hat and short bow before exiting the stage.

On April 6, New York judge Shirley Werner Kornreich removed portions of Kesha’s lawsuit that described Dr. Luke’s treatment of her as a violation of human rights and indicative of a hate crime against her gender. The judge did allow the singer’s request to clarify her rights under the contract with Luke’s production company, Kemosabe, under the Sony label, which states she has four more albums with them before she can be released from the label. Sony and Dr. Luke are currently pursuing a breach of contract suit against her.
