Deadline has revealed that former child actor and now fully fledged grown up, Haley Joel Osment has signed on to star in the latest offering from Clerks writer/director, Kevin Smith.
The idea for the bizarre horror film, titled Tusk, came to Smith after he saw a Gumtree ad for a man requesting a roommate who was willing to dress up and act like a walrus. Varying only slightly from reality, the film centres around a podcast host (Justin Long) who goes missing in the backwoods of Canada, where he’s forced to dress up and act like a walrus for a man’s (Michael Parks) companionship.
Osment’s role will be that of Teddy, the missing man’s best friend and co-host, and together with his girlfriend (Genesis Rodriguez) they begin their search for him.
Production is scheduled to being next month in North Carolina and Los Angeles.
