If you are a fan of the slasher film Scream, this isn’t the news you’ve hoping to hear. Kevin Williamson served as the writer of the Scream film franchise that played up typical horror troupes in a smart yet frightening way for the first, third and fourth films (Scream 3 was written by Ehren Kruger).
While active on Twitter one evening last week, a user tweeted the Scream creator and asked about any involvement in a potential 5th film about the masked killer known as ghostface, to which Williamson responded:

With the upcoming Scream series on MTV and little-to-no talk of a future installment, it’s difficult to be optimistic as a hopeful fan of the films. I hope that, at the very least, the TV series can capture some of the elements that made the films so popular and memorable more than a decade later.
Who knows? Maybe the series will spark a studio interest in keeping the movies going! We could definitely see ourselves enjoying the return of Sidney Prescott, the most badass horror heroine in years. What do you think of Williamson’s announcement? Come on Weinstein brothers, he even has the script!
