Renowned jazz vocalist Tony Bennett turns 88 today, and with an impending album release chockful of duets with Lady Gaga that’s already being called the next Grammy winner by fans, he sure has one heck of a reason to celebrate.
If that weren’t enough, the pop diva also had a banner FLOWN over Tony’s current place of residence and throughout the city as one heck of a birthday present! As a result? Tony’s calling it the- and I quote -“best birthday ever.” If there’s anything that’s totally refreshing in a scandalous pop industry, it’s these two legends’ loving friendship.
Bennett began his star-studded career way back in 1949 after Bob Hope had seen the best in him, having him cut a demo of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” that would later get him signed to major label Columbia Records. He and Gaga had their first duet on the album Duets II back in 2011 and have become great friends since then, deciding to record their upcoming full album together, Cheek to Cheek, which is currently set for a September 23, 2014 release.
Here’s to a great 88th for Tony, and many more to come! After all, he’s got some Grammys to win!
