If the rumours were correct, it would have been one of the biggest collaborations in recent years. She is the Queen of pop and champion of the underdog. The other songbird is an RnB diva. Both have won numerous awards, strive for controversy at every turn and have enormous armies of loyal fans. However, it now appears as if they were just that… rumours.

On September 13, Rihanna posted the following Tweet, announcing that she’d recorded a “#monster hook” with one of her favourite artists.

The use of “monster” led many to speculate that the musical collaboration was with the Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, on a track for her upcoming album, ARTPOP. However, while answering fan questions during an interview on KIIS-FM, Gaga denied the rumours.

“Well, no, that’s not true”, she told the fan and listening audience. “But, I mean, it’s a rumor, I guess. It’s a good rumor. I like Rihanna, so, it’s just not true.”

She was quick to add her feelings towards Rihanna, saying: “Well, Rihanna is wonderful and I always like hanging out with her when I see her.”

ARTPOP is being released worldwide on November 11. With the denial from the lips of Gaga herself, it leaves who Rihanna’s mysterious collaborator is up in the air. Who is this favourite artist of hers? What’s the significance of “#monster”? Are Gaga’s comments all a ruse to throw fans off track? Let us know your theories.
