Lady Gaga is “Floored” That Madonna Covers Her Music

There’s nothing better than two “feuding” pop-stars coming together for the cause – the music. During Madonna’s MDNA tour, she performed a medley consisting of her hit, “Express Yourself,” and Lady Gaga’s hit “Born This Way.”

When Gaga’s hit was first released, many people criticized the pop singer for “copying” Madonna’s hit. Both singers discussed the accusations, going back and forth between the two songs being “nothing alike” to Gaga receiving Madonna’s blessings for using a similar tune for her own song.

Now with all controversies aside, Gaga is speaking up about Madonna’s cover of “Born This Way.” She opens up about the performance in December’s issue of Attitude magazine.

“I have to be really honest, I was completely kind of floored that Madonna was singing my song on her stage every night,” Gaga told the magazine.

“I’m certainly not thinking about anybody but me and my fans when I’m on stage. The fact that I was on her mind at all. I mean, Madonna’s… she’s Madonna. I looked up to her for a long time. I’m not quite sure what her intention was – to do that in the show – but I don’t really care.”

We’re not sure what Madonna’s intentions were, either. Whether or not her intentions were good or not, as the old expression goes, “Imitation is the biggest form of flattery”.

Gaga continued, “She chooses to use her voice the way she chooses to use hers and I choose to use mine the way I use mine. All it meant to me was that Madonna Ciccone was singing my song on her stage and I’m 27!”
