As previously reported, Larry David, the world’s favorite curmudgeon, is heading to Broadway for the very first time; and the project keeps getting more and more exciting as new details emerge.
The play, entitled A Fish in the Dark, is written by Larry David and will star him in the lead role in his Broadway debut. David, an unsuccessful stand-up comedian, would go on to create the iconic Seinfeld, winning two Emmys for the show.
A Fish in the Dark has very few plot details at the moment, but we do know it is about a family sitting shiva for the death of a loved one. Some casting announcements have also been made, with Tony nominee Jane Houdyshell, Oscar nominee Rosie Perez, Jerry Adler, Jonny Orsini and Jake Cannavale all set to star with David.
The show will start previews on February 2nd and officially open on March 5th. The show will be produced by mega-producer Scott Rudin, and directed by Anna D. Shapiro, who gained massive success for directing another dark family comedy for Broadway, August: Osage County.
