The fun and quirky Lea Michele has proven just how much of a powerhouse talent she is in the last few years. Her newest song “Battlefield” puts her strong vocal talents proudly out there.
The Glee actress recently told MTV News that she wanted her new album Louder, which will be released March 6th, to not only deal with the loss of boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith but to give an in-depth look at the person behind her famous Rachel Berry persona. “What’s funny, I was talking to my mom and she’s like, ‘This is the opportunity for people to really get to see you, who you are in a personal way,’ ” she told MTV News. “And I’m excited about that because I’ve played a character for so long, singing these cover songs, which has been so awesome, and now I’m kind of ready to let people know who Lea Michele really is.”
The song “Battlefield”, which you can listen to below, is both intimate and aggressive and a call to a cease fire in the war of a failing romance.

The nearly four minute ballad, which premiered today, marks the second single from her new album, following the recently released song “Cannonball”. “Cannonball” has been described as “very, very personal” to Michele. It has been widely well received, even earning a spot on Billboard in its first week, the first song of any Glee star to do so.
So, kudos to Michele for being brilliant and breaking into the solo field with a personal album that fans are sure to love. Be sure to pick up a copy of the album in March and watch Glee on Fox on February 25th.
