If you’ve been hanging around Bilbo Baggins’ hobbit hole, you might be interested in this piece of news. Lee Pace, who plays Thranduil in The Hobbit films, is set to star in the as yet unnamed biopic of about disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong.
The biopic is adapted from Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong, penned by journalist David Walsh, and will star Ben Foster (3:10 to Yuma) and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad). The role Pace will play in the movie is as yet unknown, and the movie will be directed by Stephen Frears.
John Hodge (Trance) has written the screenplay for the film. In his adaptation of the book, Hodge follows Armstrong’s career through the years including his eventual ban from professional cycling due to doping charges.
This is not the last we will see of Pace. As well as his role in The Hobbit films, he is in post-production as Ronan the Accuser in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy!
Pace also starred in several episodes of the much missed TV show Pushing Daisies.
