The Les Miserables star has a couple of other roles in contention, but it has been reported that should he get the biopic, Theory of Everything, that will be his priority.

The film will be directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire) and is due to start filming in autumn. The movie’s focus will be on Hawking and his wife.

There is no word on who will portray Mrs. Hawking, though talks are apparently underway.

This is not the first time Hawking’s story has been immortalised. Benedict Cumberbatch previously portrayed the theoretical physicist in the 2004 TV movie Hawking. The role earned Cumberbatch a Golden Nymph award and a BAFTA nomination.
Redmayne won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his part in Red.
