“Oh don’t come for Queen Bey!” Most would say imitation is the highest form of flattery, but some have said that Lily Allen was mocking Mrs Carter in her latest live performance.
Saturday, April 26, Allen had the spotlight at London’s G-A-Y nightclub, performing a few of her hits for the fabulous crowd. When in Rome, or this case a gay club, one must do a drag number as well of course! Lily has made it a tradition when she comes to G-A-Y to do a lip-sync number for her fans and this time she pay homage to the one and only Beyonce!
Lily chose “Drunk in Love” as her song and embodied the video ensemble from the blonde bob down to the black bikini and lace sarong. Not soon after Lilyonce reminded us that she “been drinkin’,” a bucket’s worth of water comes sailing her way. IS SHE MOCKING BEYONCE?!
No. Calm down. Beyonce was wet at the beach in her video; ergo Lily HAD to get equally soaked on stage! DUH. Of course, once the smartphone videos hit the interwebs, the Beyhive exploded. Lily was there for the haters, reminding them that drag is parody and to take several seats.
