Live Out Your Super Hero Dreams: Get Your Face On An Action Figure

Kids can now be the super hero they always wanted with “Super Awesome Me” figurines! Marvel has teamed up with select Walmart and Sam’s Club locations.

Being immortalized as an action figure has often been a fantasy for kids and geeks of all ages. Personalized custom figures have actually been available for several years now, but the cost has been too high for all except the wealthiest of collector nerds.

Now, with the advent of 3D printing, your own little fantastic plastic mini-me hero is only $45 away. For a limited time, Hasbro and Marvel have teamed up with select Walmart and Sam’s Cub locations to bring you the “Super Awesome Me” experience, a machine that scans the user’s face and places it onto a 3D template of a Captain America or Iron Man 12″ action figure. If you like the mock-up image, you can then order the real thing. Turnaround time is around four weeks.

Girls and women who would prefer their faces on a more suitably feminine form such as Black Widow or Scarlet Witch are out of luck, but if this first run of the project is a success, more character options are likely to be available in the future.

The “Super Awesome Me” experience is available now through Sept. 28 at ten Walmart and two Sam’s Club locations throughout New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston.
