After the onslaught of backlash from episode four of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6, because of a mini challenge called ‘Female or She-male?’, Logo has officially pulled the episode from any further airings until the challenge can be removed. They have also stated that the challenge will not appear again. To top it off, they have even removed the iconic “You’ve Got She-Mail” that has appeared in every episode of RDR to date, and the segment will also be removed from all further episodes. Logo has issued this statement:
We wanted to thank the community for sharing their concerns around a recent segment and the use of the term ‘she-mail’ on Drag Race. Logo has pulled the episode from all of our platforms and that challenge will not appear again.
Furthermore, we are removing the ‘You’ve got she-mail’ intro from new episodes of the series.
We did not intend to cause any offense, but in retrospect we realize that it was insensitive. We sincerely apologize.
With so many complaints about using what has been deemed a derogatory statement, which of RuPaul’s saying will be censored next? Many of RuPaul’s iconic sayings are very much tongue in cheek hits about bad words and gay double entendres. Between her song Tranny Chaser and the basis of finding America’s Next Drag Superstar (Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent- Aka C-U-N-T), not much of the show will remain if it goes under any more scrutiny. Tonight at 10:00pm EST marks the 9th episode of Season 6 of RDR, and the first ever episode missing “You’ve Got She-mail.”
