The new Mockingjay poster, featuring everyone’s favorite kick-ass Katniss, has arrived online courtesy of singer Lorde.
The singer tweeted the poster yesterday (September 4), saying how excited she was to be a part of the film:

For those who don’t know, the singer will be collaborating on the score and soundtrack and lending her musical sensibilities to the film.
Anyone else excited? Because I am damn excited.
Now to the poster:
Katniss, although obviously acting as the face of the Rebellion, has her back turned, so all we can see are her bows and arrows.
For those who’ve read the book: Gotta love symbolism.
For those who have yet to get your reading cap on: Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Batniss.
So far, the marketing for the movie has focused more on the rebellion as a whole, rather than the heroine, as we only caught a glimpse of her in the teaser trailer released. But this is a smart move, in my opinion, as it shows how the film franchise has moved away from Katniss’ perspective, like the book, and creates a fuller view of the world and the war: both good and bad.
If you haven’t read Mockingjay yet, you should get on that. It’s a great end to the series (although some disagree). I personally think it was tonally perfect and just seemed like the right fit. After all, it’s a world where kids are sent every year to die for sport. It’s not butterfly catching.
Mockingjay Part 1 hits theatres November 19th.
