The Canadian network Showcase has announced its hit original series, Lost Girl, is set to film 13 new episodes this spring.  Season 5 will air this fall in Canada.

While Fae-natics in Canada can breathe a sigh of relief, fans in the US and UK should brace themselves for possible disappointment. While Lost Girl will air on SyFy and SyFy UK, there is no indication whether or not the networks will actually pick up the fifth season.

Say what?  SyFy!  Get it together!

The show is centered around Bo, a young girl who discovers that she is a succubus, and that she must use the sexual energy of others to live.  Played by Anna Silk, Lost Girl follows Bo’s journey from discovering her true identity to learning to accept it and navigate the supernatural world she is thrown into.

Bo discovers she is a Fae, a creature of legend who lives among humans, and that she is in fact not alone.  Her journey also has her facing a choice between two clans – Dark or Light Fae – though she is hesitant to decide between them.  Instead, she opts to make her own way while unlocking the secrets and mysteries of her origin.

Senior Vice President Shaw Media Barbara Williams said, “Rooted in folklore and mythology, ‘Lost Girl’ has inspired a passionate and dedicated fan following with its deeply engaging characters, richly imagined universe and boundary-pushing storylines.”

We can only hope that SyFy and SyFy UK can appreciate Williams’ sentiments and bring the show to their fans this fall.
