Congratulations are in order for tennis great Martina Navratilova and her girlfriend, Julia Lemigova as they are now engaged!
Navratilova proposed to Lemigova, her girlfriend of six years, between the men’s semi finals matches at the US Open. What made it even more special was that fans were able to watch the magical proposal live on the big-screen.
Navratilova told the Associated Press that she was “…very nervous. It came off, and she said yes. It was kind of an out-of-body experience.”
The couple hope to get married in Florida. Though it is currently not legal in the state, recently a judge ruled that the current ban on gay marriage in the state is unconstitutional. The pair fully expect the laws to change within the next year.
