Welsh actor Luke Evans is currently in negotiations to play the egotistical and narcissistic character of Gaston in Disney’s upcoming live action film, Beauty and The Beast, which also stars Emma Watson as Belle.
Gaston is the main antagonist of the film who fights for the affection of Belle. He was not originally in fairy tale itself, he was first introduced in the famous 1991 animation of the same name.
According to Variety, filming begins later this year and will be directed by Bill Condon (Twilight: Breaking Dawn and Kinsey). You may remember Luke Evans last performances in Dracula Untold and The Hobbit Trilogy.
Rumors were a float that Eddie Redmayne would be considered for the role, until he backed out at the last minute this week according to a reporter via twitter.
