The newly famous rap stars Macklemore and Ryan Lewis appeared on Chelsea Lately on August 25th where they chatted about their single “Same Love”. The song recently won the MTV VMA for Best Song for a Social Message.
“It was a matter I wanted to confront as a straight man. I’m like what is my attitude on this matter? I tried to compose it from the viewpoint as a gay, harassed kid. Brought it back to the studio, Ryan listened to it and was like, ‘That is not your account to tell. You have a story here, talk about your understanding’ and I began there,” explained Macklemore, of the gay rights “Same Love” single.
Both Macklemore and Ryan Lewis went on to talk about their sexuality. “Despite everything that the internet thinks, yes (we are straight)…If you type in Macklemore to a search engine i.e. google the first choice is “is Macklemore gay?” said Macklemore.
After the crowd cannot believe Macklemore and Ryan Lewis met on the social networking site MySpace, Mack just threw his hands up in the air and says kiddingly: “Fine, we’re gay”.
Macklemore also went on to explain how he adored the musical Cats when he was growing up. This made him believe he just might be gay. You must be wondering what made him straight? He started using his penis, he laughs.
