The Magic’s Back: Magic Mike XXL Has Begun Filming

Magic Mike XXL has officially begun filming! All of our favorite boys are off to a stripper convention, and there’s no telling what they’ll get up to.

“It’s ON!”

With those words, Steven Soderbergh announces to the world that filming for Magic Mike XXL began this weekend. Are you excited?

The director of photography, camera operator, and film editor Tweeted those words as well as ‘a photo of the sequel’s clapperboard on Sunday’ (August 31, 2014). Little has been reported about this film. However, we do know it will heat up the theaters in July 2015.

Apparently, it will be a road-trip film ending at a stripper convention. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Matt Bomer explains that it’s a real thing: “Only the best of the best make it. It’s a strip-off to the death. It is a stripper convention – I can imagine if you lock those doors, things can get a little rowdy.”

Channing Tatum hopes that this film will be fun for viewers. To MTV, the actor said, “A s— ton of ridiculous stuff that you would never see in a movie, on the face of the earth, ever again.”

Why is Soderbergh not directing this time around? He did want to be part of it. “I want to be in the band, but I just don’t want to be the frontman this time,” he explained to GQ. Gregory Jacobs will be directing this movie. He’s worked as first assistant director on several Soderbergh productions.

So, are you excited about the sequel? Did you like the first movie? Sound off below!
