Maleficent will be back to cause more magical trouble, as Disney announced they are planning a sequel to the movie of the same name, which is unsurprising considering it grossed $758 million worldwide!

Deadline confirmed the news, claiming that the writer of the first film, Linda Woolverton, is taking up writing duties yet again. And although Angelina Jolie isn’t definitely attached to the project, it seems unlikely that the dark fairy will be recast.

The first movie followed the story of Sleeping Beauty from her perspective, so fans have little idea of where a second offering would take the characters. I can’t wait to find out!
