Matt Weiner has been dropping some seriously tantalizing hints lately about what we can expect for season 6 of Mad Men.

Fans have been speculating that Mrs. Draper (Jessica Paré) herself will be the next character to meet an early, and allegedly grizzly, demise. These whisperings began after Megan Draper donned a Macy’s t-shirt similar to the one infamously worn by Sharon Tate prior to her tragic murder in 1969.

The buzz was certainly not quelled when one of the show’s costume designers commented on the look via Twitter:

Other viewers have also connected the fact James Wolk’s enigmatic and far-too-accommodating Bob Benson could very well be a sociopath-murderer. Fans do say the darndest things!

However, the The Los Angeles Times got different information from Weiner, the show’s creator. Last year’s season marked the end of the road for a major character, Lane Price (Jared Harris).

“I don’t want to spoil anything for people, but after Lane… It’s just not part of the show,” Weiner said. “No one’s going to die.”

Apparently that’s enough death for the time being! Gee, wouldn’t it be great if some of our other favorite shows operated like that (hint: Game of Thrones)?

Weiner made it clear that he was only referring to the current season stating: “I didn’t say never!”

The series is slated to continue for one more season, calling it quits after its seventh year.

The finale for season six, “In Care Of,” airs in the US this Sunday (June 23), and in the UK next Wednesday (June 26).
