In 1980, the legendary Stanley Kubrick made The Shining, an adaptation of one of Stephen King’s spookiest stories. With a mind-blowing performance by Jack Nicholson and the subtle beauties only time can add to a film, The Shining has become one of the most iconic horror films that, with the exception of a little-seen TV miniseries adaptation, has remained relatively untouched.
Until now…
Mark Romanek, the director behind One Hour Photo (a film which saw funnyman Robin Williams give his creepiest performance), is set to direct The Overlook Hotel, a prequel to The Shining. The film will tell the story of the original owner of the creepy hotel where The Shining takes place, around when he built it in the early 1900s.
No release date has been set, but hopefully we will be able to enter the insanely creepy hotel sooner than later.
