Martin Freeman Joins The Ranks Of Captain America: Civil War

Sherlock’s Martin Freeman has joined the cast of the third upcoming Captain America movie, Civil War.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron has only just opened in cinemas but the movie train rumbles on, with Captain America: Civil War entering production.

And with it comes the news that Martin Freeman is to join the cast of the Cap sequel.

Producer Kevin Feige said, “From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us. We couldn’t be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

The international success of Sherlock, along with his starring role in The Hobbit trilogy, mean he’s in good stead for entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fellow Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch made the leap to Marvel too, with the announcement that he is soon to film Doctor Strange in the titular role.

Captain America: Civil War debuts May 6, 2016.
