Marvel Is Open To The Idea Of A Big Screen LGBT Character… Maybe

Marvel Universe President, Kevin Fiege, has stated that he’s open to the idea of introducing an openly gay film character… at some point. Maybe.

As the US continues to celebrate the announcement that same-sex marriages are now legal in all 50 states, the debate around the LGBT community is showing little sign of abating any-time soon – and that can only be a good thing.

Asked recently as to whether or not he could see an LGBT character being introduced into the Marvel cinematic universe, their President Kevin Feige offered up a tantalizing response, although to see anything come of it, we may all be waiting a while.

He responded by saying he:

“Would think so, for sure

and added that it could happen:

“Within the next decade.”

Marvel has already had an array of LGBT characters in its comic books including Batwing and Jessica Drew, although none have as yet managed to make it to the big screen.

This latest piece of news comes around the same time that hit show The Vampire Diaries looks set to introduce its first same-sex couple in Season Seven.
