It is official, Marvel fans! Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been granted a full season order, according to EW.com. ABC has announced that the final segment of the first season has been picked up, and the hit will run a full twenty-two episode season.
S.H.I.E.L.D was without a doubt one of the fall season’s most anticipated new series, opening with huge numbers despite its challenging 8 o’clock time slot.
And while the numbers have dwindled significantly since the record-breaking premier, it is still pulling in respectable numbers, with 7.9 million viewers for its most recent episode.
S.H.I.E.L.D also marks the first successful order for creator Joss Whedon, who hasn’t had much luck in the television world since Angel wrapped in 2004.
S.H.I.E.L.D is only the third show to get the green light to continue this season; but it’s in good company with Fox’s creepy-sexy Sleepy Hollow and NBC’s mind-bending thriller, The Backlist.
