Marvel’s Mockingbird Is Getting Her Own Comic Book Series

Marvel has announced that Mockingbird will be getting her own comic series, written by novelist Chelsea Cain, following the success of the character on TV.

Making the announcement at Diamond Retailer Summit in Baltimore, Marvel has made it public that they have green lit a Mockingbird solo series.

The character is memorable to television audiences for her appearances in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where she is played by Adrianne Palicki. There is no available details yet on the story, but novelist Chelsea Cain, who will be writing the series, has provided tidbits on what to expect in an interview with Newsarama.

Bobbi is funny. Her rapport with Hawkeye (and Hunter on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for that matter) has always been at the core of their chemistry. She knows her way around a one-liner. So it was important to me to show her being clever, witty, and thinking on her feet – while being menaced and kicking ass.

I really wanted this to be a personal story, small of scope, and I wanted to somehow deal with her batsh– crazy backstory. She is out to avenge the murder of someone from her past.

It’s not only in comic books that Mockingbird is getting her own series. Variety has reported that ABC is already coming in close to order a pilot for a show titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, which will center on both Mockingbird and Lance Hunter.
