It’s still so hard to believe that he’s really gone.
In a new interview with Katie Couric, Matt Damon talked about his co-star in the Oscar winning Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams.
When discussing Robin’s untimely death, he said he thought “
it affected everybody in the country in that we all felt like we knew him and he was a part of our lives. Ben and I owe everything to him, you know. He said yes to our movie (Good Will Hunting) and he got it made. I could never thank him enough.”
He continued to say:
“I think everyone who wasn’t there with him at the end feels bad that they didn’t see it coming. I hope I become better at checking in with my friends and I hope that we as a country become better at checking in with each other to prevent this kind of thing. And I hope that we can star engaging with that and realizing the severity of these mental health issues and what people are carrying.”
There is clearly so much respect between Damon and the late Williams.
The two had amazing chemistry back when they filmed Good Will Hunting, and it should be no surprise they both walked away with an Oscar statue.
RIP Robin.
