Matthew Perry Is Going To Get “Odd” For CBS

Staff Writer

Ready for a familiar ‘Friend’ to grace your TV screen again? Matthew Perry is set to co-write, produce, and star in a remake of the 70’s sitcom The Odd Couple. Originally based on the Broadway play by Neil Simon, The Odd Couple focuses on two mismatched roommates Oscar Madison and Felix Ungar. Perry will take the role of Oscar who is a disorganized mess and tends to put neat freak Felix on edge.

Co-writing the CBS project is Danny Jacobson who will also serve as an executive producer. Also sharing the title are Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Eric Tannenbaum, and Kim Tannenbaum. The pressure is for Perry, the two previous shows he had a creative hand in didn’t fair too well. See NBC’s Go On and ABC’s Mr. Sunshine.

Regardless Perry couldn’t be more excited about the reboot. He told Deadline, “The Odd Couple reboot will be filmed in front of a live audience, just like Friends. I think it’s time for me to be in front of a live audience again. I miss that. The search for Felix Ungar is on!”

Personally I think Matt LeBlanc should just be a shoe-in for the role of Felix. Who wouldn’t want to see a grown up Joey and Chandler?!
