Matthew Vaughn Unveils Official Title And Storyline Of Kingsman 2

Kingsman 2 is about to begin production, and director Matthew Vaughn has revealed its official title and basic storyline.

With the success of Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller Kingsman: The Secret Service, it seemed inevitable that a sequel would be made.

More than a year later, production is about to start and Vaughn is back in the director’s chair. In an interview with Empire Magazine, the director has revealed the sequel’s title, some concept art,and the movie’s basic story line.

First of all, the official name of the film will be Kingsman: The Golden Circle. What this golden circle is, we can only hazard a guess since the director did not reveal what it means, but let us hope it is more than just a few words uttered by one of the main characters. Parts of the story were revealed in tandem with the concept art, some of which shows the destroyed Kingsman headquarters. That may be the reason Taron Egerton’s Eggsy and Mark’s Strong’s Merlin will flee across the Atlantic to their American counterparts, the Statesmen, for help.

This new organisation will be led by a cowboy named Jack and Ginger, who will be played by Halle Berry. The role of Jack hasn’t been cast.

They will be going up against an organisation run by Poppy, played by Julianne Moore. We have an idea of her secret lair, Poppyland, since it is also revealed in the concept art; it’s located within a South East Asian temple with a giant steel gate emblazoned with a Poppyland neon sign.

Vaughn also said that he had reservations in being back in the director’s chair, and this had something to do with the movie’s villain. “I didn’t know if I wanted to direct this or not. I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot,” he said.

When asked whether he plans on doing another ‘church scene,’ which fans are clamoring for, he said ,”You try not to read what people want, but they do want another church sequence. I have no reason for another massacre to happen. But I have other sequences you’ve never seen before.”
