Meg Ryan is coming to a TV screen near you, not only as a star, but also as a executive producer.

NBC has greenlit a new comedy, which will be penned by the man behind Miss Congeniality, Marc Lawrence, who worked on the premise of the show with Ryan over the summer.

The show will follow Ryan as a hard-working single mother and great writer who goes back to her roots in the New York publishing house that saw her grow, only to find things aren’t so easy as they were back in the day. She discovers that her skills as a mother, a writer, and person will not be enough to keep everyone happy and survive every situation.

This is a terrific opportunity for Ryan. Even though she’s been laying low for the past years, she’s made some memorable guest appearances and cameos on shows like Web Therapy, Curb Your Enthusiasm and also on films like Serious Moonlight in 2009.
