All obvious “burning love” and “fiery passion” jokes aside, the wedding of Michael and April Wolber at Rock Springs Ranch in Oregon literally became too hot for attendees to handle when the nuptials had to be sped up due to a fast-approaching wildfire.
It was a scenario eerily similar to this season’s “Cam and Mitch wedding” finale on Modern Family, but for the Wolbers the danger was all too real. Fire trucks arrived during the wedding preparations on June 7 and alerted the party of a rampaging wildfire nearing the site.
Undaunted by the flaming juggernaut, the couple still went through with the wedding at the site. The couple opted for a truncated and quick-paced ceremony rather than a cancellation.
The brave couple even posed for wedding photos against the backdrop of the wildfire’s flame and smoke, resulting in some dramatic shots which were equal parts frightening and beautiful, and most definitely unique.
The entire wedding party was able to evacuate to safety shortly after to continue their celebration.
Tragically, however, the wildfire continued to rage throughout Oregon all of last week. The massive blaze, started by an arsonist, destroyed nearly 7,000 acres of forest before the bulk of it was contained by firefighters on June 14.
