Michael Fassbender is in negotiations to star in the gangster-centred drama Trespass Against Us as Chad Cutler, “a man who wants to get away from his family’s criminal lifestyle.

The screenplay, written by Alastair Siddons (director of In the Dark Half), “follows the trials and travails of the Cutler family, who over three generations live as outlaws, poaching for game, robbing affluent households, and sneering at police authority. But their twisted family ties become too much for Chad Cutler, who begins to look for a way to break away from his family and out of the criminal life and legacy they hold dear.”

The film will be director Adam Smith’s first feature film, having previously worked on selected episodes of British TV shows such as Skins, Little Dorrit and Doctor Who as well as directing music videos for The Chemical Brothers, who will also write and perform the original score to accompany the film.

Trespass Against Us is scheduled to begin production in the United Kingdom in 2014. However, while you’re waiting, Fassbender can currently be seen in theatres in the critically acclaimed 12 Years A Slave, and The Counselor. He is also in the process of shooting the Western themed film Slow West and in January 2014 he is set to play the title role in Shakespeare’s Macbeth, alongside Marion Cotillard.
