Miles Teller Denies Reports Of Arrest For Public Intoxication

Actor Miles Teller has taken to Twitter to deny reports that he was arrested this past weekend in San Diego for public intoxication.

After reports were released that Miles Teller was arrested in San Diego for public intoxication, the Whiplash actor is speaking out and taking to Twitter to set the record straight.

Miles Teller Timeline According To SDPD

On Monday, People reported that Teller had been arrested on Sunday morning, and the San Diego Police Department backed this claim up. According to Officer Billy Hernandez, a spokesman for the San Diego police, Teller was “uncooperative throughout the whole process” when approached by officers in the Pacific Beach area around midnight. Hernandez adds that the actor was “swaying side to side, slurring his speech and had bloodshot eyes.” At one point, while talking to police, he even “lost his balance and almost fell into the street.”

Teller was then placed under arrest and transported to a detox center to sober up. “But if you refuse to follow the simple directions,” Hernandez points out, “the next stop is jail.” He adds that Teller’s lack of cooperation from the very beginning resulted in rejection by the detox staff, so the Divergent star was subsequently arrested and booked on suspicion of public intoxication and misdemeanor at the local jail. He was released Sunday morning.

While the San Diego Police Department is sticking to their story, Teller seems to have a completely different recollection of what exactly happened that night. He tweeted his own account, explaining that he had gone to San Diego to visit a friend who was about to be deployed. He wasn’t arrested, merely detained, and then released after no evidence was found of having committed a crime. He concludes this clarification by advising followers, “Don’t believe everything you read.”
