Miley Cyrus, 20, has opened up about her controversial image in a new interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s October issue.

In the past couple of years, the former Hannah Montana star has taken every opportunity to flaunt her more urban influenced style. Whether it is twerking half naked on stage at the MTV VMA’s or going completely nude in her new music video, Cyrus knows exactly how to push the public’s buttons.

She revealed to Harper’s Bazaar: “I told my label: ‘This is the first I’m showing you what I’m bringing to the table as an artist. If this goes wrong, you never have to trust me again. I’ll be your little puppet. But if I’m right, then you know I’m on to something.”

Her new image may have turned off some fans, it seems to have worked in her favour so far.

Her music video for “We Can’t Stop” broke Vevo records by drawing nearly 11 million viewers on its release. She followed that up with, “Wrecking Ball.” It has achieved the feat of being the fastest video to reach 100 million views on Vevo within just six days.

Cyrus also assured that she is confident about the direction she’s heading with her music career.

“I’m someone who cares about the real things in life,” she said. “There are things that are personal that stress me out, but my career? That doesn’t affect me. I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”

As for her partying lifestyle, Cyrus implied that it could be a side effect of working full time in showbiz since being a child.

“I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid. So now I’m an adult and I’m acting like a kid,” she said. “There are times when I’m sitting in my big ole house and I’m like, ‘I can’t believe I’m allowed to be here alone.’”

Miley Cyrus’ new album Bangerz is scheduled for an October 8th release.
