Mindy is truly adjusting to motherhood, and with that comes the competition for preschools, on this week’s The Mindy Project “Jody Kimball-Kinney Is My Husband.”
So Mindy takes Leo to a baby music class, to improve his music talent and odds of getting a record deal, while the moms around her are looking for extracurriculars for their little tykes. As it turns out, preschools are more exclusive than Ivy league colleges. And after Mindy sis forced to deal with snobby attitudes from the other mothers, and Leo is kicked out for pinching other baby’s butts, she decides that Little Doorways preschool is the only one for her son.
Mindy asks Jody to play her fake husband and she, in turn, agrees to be his fake wife, as she tries to impress the preschool and he tries not to bone his brother’s wife.
Different strokes for different folks.
So Jody plays the perfect southern gentleman, and wows the preschool head teacher; Mindy is thrilled. They agree to arrange a meeting with the head the next morning, and head off to dinner to meet Ann-Marie, Jody’s sister-in-law and seemingly the love of his life.
They arrive at dinner, and Mindy realises that Jody is using her to make Ann-Marie jealous and not as a cock-block.
She storms off, and Jody stays with Ann-Marie. She informs him that she is staying with his brother and whatever they had is over.
Mindy preps Leo for the preschool interview while she brushes up on current affairs (she didn’t know Hilary Clinton was running for president. Just FYI.) Jody turns up at the door, reeking of alcohol, and Mindy hides him in her room.
The head of the preschool arrives and asks Mindy about her pictures of Danny. She lies and says he brought her and Jody together, as he was unable to make it back from California because his Dad poisoned the dog with his medication. A drunken Jody comes out of the bedroom, and Mindy forces him back inside.
She realises she would be happy for Leo to go to public school and was just trying to prove that she was good enough to the snobby mothers, while and Jody realises he wasn’t in love with Ann-Marie, but just wanted everything his brother had.
Mindy informs the head that she rejects Little Doorways and its study abroad programme for toddlers, and is informed she was offered a place on the spot for being “an alcoholic married to an eccentric Indian lady couple.”
Mindy is flattered and asks about tuition, but $70 thousand is too high a price, so Mindy throws her out of the apartment and shows Leo around his potential new school.
After she gets threatened by two 8-year-olds, it may be Catholic school for little Leo.
