Such an inspiration!!
Last night, I recapped “American Idol” and the start of their Top 30 reveal. I failed to mention the courage of 20 year old MK Nobilette, because I wanted to focus on her ALONE.
Over the years, “American Idol” has seen it’s share of gay/lesbian contestants, but when you really look back on it, we all came to that conclusion ourselves, as the show nor the contestants ever addressed it. Look back on past contestants Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert, Danny Noriega: It was never openly discussed whether or not they were gay. The show never addressed it.
Now in it’s 13th season, Idol decided to make a change.
After a great final solo performance, MK Nobilette faced the final judgment in front of the judges and awaited her fate if she had made the Top 15 girls. Before the judges could give her an answer, MK opened up about her sexuality.
She said to the judges:
I’m very obviously gay, and there are always gonna be people in America and everywhere else who are definitely going to hate. But I think that in the last two years there have been a lot of things that have really changed that, and have really made it a positive thing.”
The judges reacted perfectly to her coming out, which you can WATCH HERE!
Such an amazing moment!!
Let’s hope big things can happen for MK this season!
