Gerard Way, former lead singer of American rock band My Chemical Romance, has signed a solo record deal with Warner Bros Records.

He posted this earlier this week on his personal website, gerardway.com:

“I am continuing full-steam into comics, art, and more importantly to some of you- music. I am pleased to let you know I am now signed as a solo artist Warner Bros. Records. My album is near completion, and you should expect to hear things in the near future, even today actually- with a brief snippet of what is to come. I am excited. It’s starting again-“.

Gerard Way was the former frontman for the band My Chemical Romance, and has released four studio albums with them including 2006’s The Black Parade. The album would spawn the single “Welcome to the Black Parade” which shot to No. 1 on the UK charts.

The band announced their break-up on March 22, 2013 on their official website.

One year to the month after the break-up the group released their greatest hits album May Death Never Stop You: The Greatest Hits 2001–2013, which included a previously unreleased track. The band as of last count, has sold over 4,438,500 albums worldwide.
