Napoleon Dynamite And Pedro Reunite For Burger King

Capitalizing on our collective need for the warm nostalgia of better times, the stars of Napoleon Dynamite reunited for a new Burger King commercial.

A lot has changed in over 10 years, but Napoleon Dynamite’s love for tater tots remains unwavering.

Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez, who played Napoleon Dynamite and his best friend Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite, reunited as their characters for a new Burger King ad for cheesy tater tots.

The movie, which came out 12 years ago, allowed viewers to see Napoleon’s crazy love for tater tots, which clearly hasn’t gone away. In the commercial, Napoleon asks Pedro if he can have one of his cheesy tater tots and proceeds to take them all.

The scene recreates a scene in the movie, where Dynamite asks Pedro if he can have some of his tater tots and puts them in his pocket for later consumption.

“Fans have been craving the return of Cheesy Tots for some time now,” said Alex Macedo, president of North America at Burger King. “So we wanted to give loyalists a holiday surprise after we heard so many of their requests. Now they’ll be able to warm up to these cozy cheese and potato bites this holiday season.”

This isn’t the first time that Heder and Ramirez returned to play their beloved characters. They both previously voiced their characters, along with Aaron Ruell, Tina Majorino and Jon Gries, in the animated adaptation of the movie, which was released in 2012. The show ran for six episodes before being canceled by FOX.

The movie was an unexpected success; with only a budget of $400,000, it grossed more than $46.1 million in the box office.

Burger King has recently been releasing previous-discontinued menu items. It recently re-released its popular Chicken Fries, which are still available now. The Cheesy Tots were a regular part of the Burger King menu until they were pulled in 2009. There’s no word on how long these Cheesy Tots will last, so fans should definitely enjoy them while they can.

While there are no plans for an official sequel, here’s hoping this isn’t the last time we’ll be seeing Napoleon and Pedro.
